South Pointe Scholars Camp Theme Descriptions

Mad Scientist:  Campers will explore a variety of STEM activities and science experiments this week, including making their rocket ships and growing their own plants.

The Explorer in Me: Campers are going to explore the world around them. They will learn about Michigan wildlife, nature and weather as well as city planning. Campers will have a chance to create their own city out of cardboard boxes.

To the Extreme: Campers will learn how to play different sports and practice what they already know. We will introduce new sports, such as cricket, and challenge ourselves physically.

Out of this World: Anything and Everything Outer Space. We will create our own galaxies and learn about our own solar system. We will also explore inventors and inventions this week, encouraging campers to create their own “inventions”.

Into the Wild: Learn about animals from around the world, their habits and behavior. Campers will have a chance recreate their favorite animals and their homes.

Wacky Week: Time to get silly with fun activities and a crazy themed spirit week.

Celebration of Nations: Campers will travel around the world and celebrate the cultures of our camp families and have a chance to bring food or other cultural items for a special show and tell.

Buggin’ Out: We will learn about the life cycle of insects and explore the creepy crawlies around us. Campers will have a chance to investigate different bugs and have some hands-on experiences!

Exploring Fine Arts: We will explore different dances from around the world and a variety of art mediums (film, music, painting, sculpting, ect) and create our own art pieces.

Activities in STEM, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Language Arts, Group Games, Teambuilding, Physical Activities and Sports and Arts and Crafts will be a part of each week during Summer Camp.
